Alaska – Fairbanks - Day 24

We’ve been playing tourist the past couple days seeing what all Fairbanks have to offer. We’ve been to the RG White Large Animal Research Station (LARS) where we took a tour and learned about artic biology seeing muskoxen, caribou and reindeer. Very interesting.

From LARS we went to Creamer’s Field Visitor Center & Gift Shop. There are open fields and nature trails where you can see wildlife of all types. Sadly all we saw were Canadian Geese and ducks no large wildlife showed up while we were there.

We spent the rest of yesterday just driving around looking at the Fairbanks area.

This morning (Saturday June 7th) we treated ourselves to a very good bagel & coffee at Lu Lu Breads & Bagels then off to just drive around a little more taking in the sights.

Don’t remember if we said this when we first got here but we’re camped along side an active float plane pond. We decided to take advantage of the activity this morning and took some shots of a couple planes using the pond; great fun!

We’re off to Hill Top Truck Stop where we’ve been told we can get the best home made pie in Alaska; we’ll let you know…..
