Claire's Cafe and Gallery

We’ve been asked if we have a gallery where we show our work, the short answer is yes. Now for the longer version:

Sandy & I began Iron Creek Photography shortly after we retired and moved full time to Arizona; shortly after settling in the Tucson area we found Claire’s Café & Gallery, I think we should say that Claire “discovered” us. While we’ve only known Claire & Steve for a relatively short time, it seems that we’ve known each other for years; they’re just that sort of people.

Claire’s has been open for business for close to 20 years serving great breakfast and lunch seven days a week 6 to 2pm. I think the only 2 days they close are Thanksgiving and Christmas. While I’m on the subject of holidays let me pass on what seems to be a little secret; Claire and Steve have opened their restaurant for Thanksgiving giving away free dinners to any and all who come (this year they will be doing it on the day before). That’s correct, the meal is free. It takes a heck of a big heart to do something like that and neither Sandy nor I can think of any other restaurant that comes close. Simply put, Claire’s is a place that once you come you’ll be back; the food is good, the service is good, and if you leave hungry it’ll be your own fault. I don’t want to leave this subject without also sharing the fact that Claire and Steve make sure that shut-ins are also taken care of on an almost daily basis by delivering food to them. Think of a place that existed more than 20 years ago where everyone is friendly, staff and customers included. It’s much like “where everyone knows your name” – actually Claire has a steady customer who comes in everyday named Norm (a really great guy and veteran).

Enough of the café now on to the gallery.

First do a Google for an artist named Shoofly and you’ll find Robert “Shoofly” Shufelt. The best way to describe Shoofly is that he captures the American Southwest and cowboy life using pencil and paper. While he now lives in New Mexico, Claire still fondly remembers the days when he’d sit in her café and draw; there are several samples of his artwork hanging at Claire’s with most of them for sale.

Going to Claire’s Café and Gallery is an experience of a lifetime where you not only get great food but you are surrounded with beautiful art with every turn of your head.

We are pleased that we have been able to meet Shoofly and other artists that display their work along side of ours. Artists such as Rose Collins and Karen Warner are just a couple who are displayed as well of course Iron Creek Photography.

Sandy and I are blessed in knowing Claire and Steve as well as all the artists who display their art in this little out of the way great place in Catalina Arizona.

We’ve added the address and phone number twice just to be sure you’ve got the information. Here’s some additional information – even though the address shows “Tucson” the restaurant is actually in a little town North of Tucson called Catalina.

Please visit Claire’s the next time you find yourself in the Tucson area to enjoy both the great food, the atmosphere, and of course the art.

Happy holidays to all

We want to thank Rose for trusting her work to us and becoming our newest friend.
