The actual name is "White Sands National Monument" located 15 miles west of Alamogordo New Mexico and about 100 miles from El Paso Texas.

Have you ever seen sand so white it almost hurts your eyes?  How about sand so white you almost think you're seeing snow?  That's White Sands.

We're working our way east to Florida on a quasi vacation working trip with stops along the way in San Antonio TX, Pensacola FL before arriving in Clearwater and a fast 1-day visit to the Everglades before turning north to Atlanta, Memphis, and Diamond Crater State Park before heading west and home.

But first we wanted to visit White Sands National Monument to scope the area out for a future shooting excursion.  We decided we need to return when we have more time to spend here.

It might be the time of year however we found the sand very firm and easy to walk out on; actually much easier than any other place we've visited such as the sand dunes in Death Valley.  Of course the color just blew us away.

The images included here have had little to no post-processing other than converting to Jpegs.  Sandy used her Canon 1DsIII and EF24-70mm lens while Don used his Phase DF body, P65+ digital back and a Phase One 80mm lens.

We hope you enjoyed the images and think about visiting this magical place in the southwest.

Remember your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
