Along the Lower Schwabacher Landing with a Canon 1DsIII

Lower Schwabacher Landing is at the end of a 1-mile dirt and gravel road off highway 89.  The entrance is not as well marked as other area turnouts and the first couple yards can be deeply rutted.  The best way to find the entrance is to drive slowly just south of the Teton Overlook turnout which is approximately 5 miles north of Moose Junction turnoff.

We've visited this area twice now and each time found the water to be near or as flat as glass which aided in getting the mirror effect.  We've been told to expect to see bald eagles, osprey, moose, river otter and beaver however all we've seen so far are ducks and beaver dams.  One of the reasons for the apparent lack of wildlife is that we're in elk hunting season and we've seen many hunters walking out into the woods as we started off walking the dirt path that runs along the river banks,  We've talked to a couple of the hunters and each one of them were carrying bear spray as they each have told us the bears are in the same area.

We had driven past this area everyday we made the trip to Moran Junction and beyond and had just never taken the time to stop however we did on our recent return from an early morning trip to Ox Bow Bend inside the Teton National Park.  We were very surprised at what we saw and equally glad we didn't wait longer.

On our first visit Sandy took her Canon 1DsIII with a 17-40mm lens attached while Don took his Leica M9 and Elmarit 24mm lens; it didn't take Don very long to decide that he also needed to shoot this area with the Cambo WRS1000 and Phase One P45+.

We've decided to do something slightly different with our two visits.  We decided to separate the images by camera type so there will be 3-parts to the Lower Schwabacher Landing with this being the first.

Please enjoy the first of three parts and remember your comments or questions are always welcome.
